Moving the blog

As some of you know our site is hosted on the YahooStore system for easy ordering.  I’ve been with them for over 8 years now and am happy with the shopping cart on most days as it’s really secure for shopping, but the blog is on a different part of their configuration.  I decided to move the blog over to wordpress.com as it seems the Yahoo system is not running the backend needed to upgrade – here’s the error message I receive for all my techie peeps out there;

You cannot update because WordPress 3.2.1 requires PHP version 5.2.4 or higher and MySQL version 5.0 or higher. You are running PHP version 4.3.11 and MySQL version 4.1.14.”

And Yahoo tells me they aren’t upgrading the PHP version or MySQL on the domain server I am on…..so I’m moving over to WordPress.com since it just seems easier.  I realize not everyone understands this post, and trust me there’s a whole bunch I don’t but I do take internet security seriously so if I can’t upgrade to the latest, greatest and most secure – I’ll just go somewhere I can.

Our new blog address will be https://lyesoap.wordpress.com    I figure what in the world do I make a lot of?  LYE SOAP!  So if you are a member of wordpress.com you’ll be able to subscribe easily and follow.  I’m not a big talker, even hate talking on the phone but I am trying to be better about blogging as I write for several.  I’ll be deleting the content from the old blog since it’s copied over here already so you can still check the Archives for past information.

If you think I just sit around all day staring at your order and not shipping it out quite as fast as you think I should, there’s usually a few reasons like internet security, death, dealing with printers sticking, GS-1 barcode issues and a few other “what did I get myself into” business things.  One would think selling bars of soap wouldn’t require a study in such technology but since I don’t go to craft shows, I deal with the internet.

Happy Monday to everyone, thanks for your patience as always!

    First off I wanted to thank you for making pine tar soap. I have tried many brands, and your bars are the saving grace to my skin over the winter. Not only does it help to heal itchy dry skin but takes me back to the days when I sailed on traditionally rigged sailboats. Those old ships used to coat the lines with pine tar and once it got warm in the sun the tar would give off the most comforting scent. So cheers to you, your great customer service and a wonderful product, thank you so much.

      Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and for the kind words, I truly appreciate it. I only knew they used it for waterproofing on the wood (it’s what’s on my cedar beehives) but didn’t know the lines too. I learn something every day. And might I add I enjoyed your blog post Synchronicity or Just Hyper-Connectivity !!!
